A NEW LEVEL OF LIVING - THE BASEMENT

These homeowners had a basement that provided great potential for a new level of living space. The rough ceiling height was over 8 feet with an available remodeled square footage of nearly 1000 square feet, while still providing a large amount of storage space.

The needs were presented as a "man cave" that included a bar, along with a playroom for the children. A bathroom was also at the top of the list. Not only was all this achieved, but a nice sitting and reading area was incorporated into the design as a "woman cave".

Throughout this project, there was a close working relationship with the homeowners and changes were made that included a built-in bookcase. The original design was expanded in square footage to allow for better positioning of the audio/video center. Obstacles such as support poles were hidden in walls, making stand alone columns unnecessary.

Below are details of the build. These features include a powder room, built in book case, built in entertainment unit, bar, reading area, playroom, and plenty of closet storage space. The flooring chosen was manchurian walnut. Bar cabinets are maple with an absolute black granite top and backsplash. All door are single panel finished in satin nickel hardware. The ceiling is manufactured by Armstrong. All TVs are LED, featuring a 53" in the main viewing area with a smaller TV at the bar. An "L" bar is scheduled to be built in front of the existing wet bar, completing a bar with seating and entertaining.
